Why BJP Karnataka has to be revived??

Our fears have come true. What we never wanted to happen, has happened and we are eating the fruits of that episode. True supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party never wanted anyone to leave BJP. Yes, I am speaking about B. S. Yedyurappa and his supporters leaving the party. It’s a well known fact that B. S. Yedyurappa along with many other leaders, be it B.B Shivappa, Jagadish Shettar, K.S Eshwarappa, or even Ananth Kumar, for that matter, built BJP in Karnataka brick by brick. This concerted effort by the united team had their first victory when BJP and Lok Shakti Party of Ramakrishna Hegde pocketed a majority of the Lok Sabha seats from Karnataka in the 1998 General Elections. But the alliance lost, could win only 10 seats owing to the anti-incumbency against the Patel Government and the Congress party emerged victorious in Karnataka. But again, an undeterred BJP team led by B. S. Yedyurappa(CM Candidate) and Ananth Kumar( State President) won 18 LS seats and emerged as single largest party in the state assembly by winning 79 seats and ally JDU winning 5 seats. What happened later is not our concern now, and I need not divulge more details about this as it’s a known fact that BJP lost nationally though it was the clear winner in Karnataka. BJP fell short of a majority in Karnataka, Congress and JD(S) formed a Govt. headed by Dharam Singh and Deve Gowda having the remote. 20 months later, the govt collapsed and Kumaraswamy became CM of Karnataka with BJP’s backing. But even this new found love didn’t last after 20 months as JDS went back on its promise to transfer BJP it’s right to rule for the remaining 20 months period. BJP again showed up a united fight against Congress and betrayer JDS and won 110 seats in 2008 Assembly Elections and subsequently formed Govt in the state with help of independents support.

What started as a Govt on ventilator support, consolidated it’s support by winning all the by-elections that followed, thus gaining a clear cut majority of it’s own. From 110 seats in the state assembly, it increased its tally to 122 seats( till 2011). In the 2009 General Elections, though BJP lost miserably in the national level, BJP again proved its a force to reckon with. It won 19 seats of the total 28 seats up for grabs. It made inroads into traditional Congress and JDS strongholds. though as in every political party, even BJP faced consequent dissidence in its Karnataka Unit. Instead of dealing the dissidence with an iron fist, the central leadership didn’t reign in the ones who were behind those dissidence.  B.S Yedyurappa was named in Illegal Mining report submitted by Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde and it’s a well known fact that on whose behest Yedyurappa’s name was included in the report. Let’s not divulge into this. Notable point is, the Lokayukta report was leaked into the media well before it was submitted to the Government. Irony is, the so called accused in Illegal Mining, B. S. Yedyurappa was the one who banned Iron Ore export and did his best to stop Illegal mining in Karnataka and it’s a known fact which national leader stopped him from taking action against the defaulters. Yedyurappa had to put in his papers, but he made sure that he won’t be made to go without having his choice as CM. His choice, D. V. Sadananda Gowda, then MP Of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru LS was picked as the replacement for B. S Yedyurappa in a secret ballot within the BJP LP. Everything was going on well, but the crooks didn’t stop there itself. they started to poison the ears of D. V. Sadananda Gowda and he revolted against his mentor, B. S Yedyurappa. DV Sadanada Gowda resigned from his MP seat to continue as CM despite stiff opposition from Yedyurappa. Their relation reached an all time low. Later Yedyurappa got what he wishe dfor. The Hon. High Court Of Karnataka at Bangalore struck down sections of Santhosh Hegde’s Illegal Mining Report that had named Yedyurappa as an accused and termed that this report was fit to be thrown in a dustbin. But certain BJP leaders dint even acknowledge the fact that Yedyurappa was given a clean chit in Illegal Mining scam. Instead of welcoming the development, the CM, DV Sadananda Gowda mocked at BSY and said there were still cases pending against Yedyurappa and he can’t be reinstated, which further soared their friendly relationship.

This further irked BS Yedyurappa and he did not campaign for BJP in the subsequent LS By election sheld to th elone vacant Udupi-Chikkamagaluru LS and BJP lost it miserably. It should be noted that the seat was till recently held by Sri D.V Sadananda Gowda, who was now ruling the state. My analysis on why BJP lost the bypoll can be found here. Please click on the link .

But BJP never learnt it lessons. It went on snubbing BS Yedyurappa. During Elections to the Legislative Council from Teacher’s and Graduates Constituency, Yedyurappa openly threatened party leaders that all six candidates would lose. But he was approached by his well wishers in the party and he campaigned for all the six candidates and BJP won 5 out of the six seats.

Later, due to growing differences between Sadananda Gowda and Yedyurappa, he ensured Mr. Gowda be replaced by his one time bete-noire Jagadish Shettar.

Later, due to the indifferent attitude of BJP state leaders especially, Ananth Kumar, DV Sadananda Gowda and Eswarappa against him, BS Yedyurappa left BJP, the party that he had nurtured all along his 40 year political life.

Elections to the state assembly were held, BJP, INC, JDS, and Yedyurappa’s KJP fought elections and Congress went on to get a clear cut majority of its own, winning 122 seats, BJP and JDS cornering 40 seats each and new born KJP could win only 6 seats, but pocketed nearly 10% vote share.

Later. it was widely evident that both BJP and BS Yedyurappa had learnt their lessons. Efforts were made from both the sides to realign. But their ego didnt let that happen. Yedyurappa’s supporters in BJP, led by his friend turned foe, DV Sadananda Gowda pushed for his re entry into the party.

Later in the month of August, both BJP and KJP, after learning their past mistakes enetered into a pre-poll alliance to contest bypolls to the vacant LS seats(supported JDS) and the three Legislative Council seats (BJP contested 2 and KJP 1, JDS supported them in all the 3 seats). But, the grand alliance lost miserably. So, the people’s verdict(karyakartha’s verdict in case of Upper House seats), was clear. They wanted a merger between BJP and KJP and not a name sake alliance.

Though efforts are being made to get BSY back into the party fold, there are people within the BJP who are trying their best to stop his entry into the party. The party needs to decide on this quickly, they can’t let the confusion prevail, as party has suffered enough. Karyakartha’s are left confused, some of them have even deserted the party. The party needs to pull its socks and put its house in place before polls to the Lok Sabha are declared. Instead of waiting till BS Yedyurappa returns to the BJP, the BJP leadership in Karnataka reshuffeled it’s state unit, thus leaving no posts for BSY’s supporters when the come back. Because of these cheap tactics used by his detractors in the BJP, Yedyurappa has time and again, confirmed that he wouldn’t merge his KJP with BJP, but would keep it’s individual identity and support NDA-BJP, the sole reason for this being Narendra Modi’s projection as BJP’s PM Candidate. But, what BJP and BS Yedyurappa have to understand is alliance won’t give the desired results, it was evident when the alliance lost all the 3 Legislative Council seats, previously held by them to Congress. Itseems, all the grass root level Karyakarthas, some elected to local bodies have deserted the saffron party and KJP to revive their political fortunes in the Congress. This can be attributed to the never ending confusion in BJP and KJP.

What I request BJP top leaderships is bring back BS Yedyurappa back to the party,  alliance won’t help, trust me. Set up a Revival Committee under his leadership. Let BJP’s ex ministers and MPs be the members of this committee. Appoint a legislator from each district as in-charge of these districts and let them report to the Revival Committee. Infuse confidence among the grassroots level workers. Show up an united face. Decentralize the powers, give more power to the district level leaders, because they are the ones who can revive BJP from grassroots. Let there be one incharge for every 5 Assembly constituencies. Hold rallies, meetings with the grassroot level workers. Reach out to the undecided voters. Tap the voters on ABCDEFG basis.

A:  Athantra(undecided)  Votes, explain to them why BJP and NaMo is what the country        needs.

B: BJP Votes, consolidate core vote base, bring back the confidence in them. Giv ethem more power, they can do wonders for the party. They are the ones who can take party to households.

C: Congress Votes, get the disgruntled congress votes to BJP. Explain to them why BJP would be the only answer and why they need to desert congress.

D: Dal Votes, get the disgruntled JDS votes to BJP. Explain to them why BJP would be the only answer and why they need to desert JDS. Explain to them, only in BJP does an ordinary karyakartha can rise to the highest ranks in the party.

E: Educated Elite Votes, get the educated to vote for BJP. Tell them how BJP would make this nation a better place, how Narendra Modi’s deceisve leadership can do wonders for India.

F: First Time Voters, India is a young nation. Youth form India’s strength,. Its important for us to tap the First time voters. Most of them are already MODIfied. High time BJP approaches this batch of voters and prove why BJP is the need of the hour.

G: Girl(Women) Votes, Impress upon the women folk why BJP is what India needs., how BJP can protect their interests.

This can be emulated from grass root to national level. The ground reality would be the same everywhere. The erstwhile Janata Parivar’s offshoots, be it Janata Dal United or Rashtriya Janata Dal in Bihar and Jharkhand, Rahtriya Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh, Indian National Lok Dal votes in Haryana, or Biju Janata Dal votes in Orissa, tap the non-congress votes.

Karnataka cannot be neglected, remebmer it contributed 19 MPs to BJPs 2009 tally of 116.

BEING POLITICAL!!!!

Youth form a major section of India’s 120 Crore population. So are they, when it comes to forming India’s Electoral College which decides who should rule the nation, be it Local bodies or the Parliament. The Democratic setup enables everyone to take part in the decision making process in the country, but it must be carefully threaded and it is not that easy as explained in our Social Science textbooks. An important issue that is before us “Should youth take up the challenging job in politics?”
When the answer expected is a big No, I would suggest them to take that challenging Job.
The perception of our generation about politics has never been positive. Though we have few young politicians, they have not been allowed to stretch their wings. The politicians need to open up and promote the young generation into mainstream politics; And youngsters do not refer to the ones in their 20’s with no experience but refer to those in their 30’s or early 40’s with a good mix of energy and experience.
Yes, It is important for Youth to involve themselves in politics, if not active, let it be passive. Well, Life is not only about studying, enjoying with friends, partying or any other activities but it is also about giving back to the society that has given you a lot more than what you deserve. You have grown into an adult passing all stages of adolescence. Family at home, Teachers at School, Friends at College, colleagues at work and society in general are e or the reason for your success and failure, equally. And it’s time for you, me and all the youths here to give back. Like many other job opportunities, even politics is a field where you can work and do something for your people.
On hearing the word Politics, many of us turn our backs and hurl abuses, which is not the right attitude. That doesn’t mean Politics here is worth being praised as many issues like rampant corruption, criminalisation of politics, apathy towards people’s needs; lack of accountability galore our political setup. And that is when we think “When we have so many options to explore, why should we dirty our hands in politics?”
But let us make an effort to reason out where the system failed. We put the blame on the government and our elected representatives whenever we feel that they are not doing their job efficiently; But more than 50 per cent of population does not take part in voting process of our country, who instead would like to spend that Voting Holiday to relax back at home. Thus we have no right to blame anyone except ourselves. We all feel that the system needs to be changed but we don’t want to take the responsibility on our shoulders. We have potential human resources who can change the scenario, but we choose to go abroad for studies and jobs and restrict our lives only to “secured” jobs and settle there permanently.
If we truly believe that the future of our country lies in the hands of the youth than we need to take a step forward. Only youth can change the pace and width of the course of our nation’s progress and make India a global giant. If we want to see a better India it’s time to take charge. It is not intended to mean that old people should leave the political scene and rest. What is wanted is that they should be there but for guidance because they are treasures of invaluable experience.
We have to build a foundation now for a prosperous future. Unless youth take the responsibility and involve in politics at all stages, we cannot expect a nation to grow.
Remember, our country can leap forward only when we take up the responsibility to steer and not by just complaining about the system. Let’s make ourselves useful.
As Che Guevara rightly says, “Power is not an apple that falls from a tree into your lap. Power has to be snatched from people who already have it.”

These are the answers to the questions that BJP leaders have posed to Shri B. S. Yediyurappaji, Hon. Former CM, Karnataka and President, Karnataka Janatha Party by a KJP, BSY supporter and also BJP Supporter.

* BJP: You swore to wipe the JD(S) after a private complaint was registered against you for which you blamed H D Kumaraswamy. What happened to that?
KJP, BSY Supporter: BSY has never gone soft on HD Kumarswamy or JDS. Its BJP that has gone soft on JDS and Kumaraswamy. Kumaraswamy, one of the kingpins of Illegal Mining was easily let off by BJP CM, DV Sadanada Gowda and only BSY was named, and GoK said they didn’t have any objection to an investigation against BS Yediyurappa. Also, was Dharam Singh and SM Krishna. The whole world knows who is Illegal mining kingpin and who is not.
When BSY proposed to swear by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara against Kumaraswamy, it was BJP leaders who asked BSY to back off from that.

*BJP: Do you remember that L K Advani led a protest when the Governor had recommended President’s rule in Karnataka? Have you forgotten that and why have you resorted to such cheap publicity against Advani?
KJP, BSY Supporter: BS Yediyurappa has time and again made it clear that he holds Advani in a very high esteem. Also, Yediyurappa has never said that Advani didn’t help him when Governor Bharadwaj recommended President’s rule in KARNATAKA. Also, what Advani did not benefit BS Yediyurappa alone. What Advani did was for the sake of BJP and not BS Yediyurappa alone. FYKI, BS Yediyurappa has not foul mouthed Advani. Also, he has tendered a public apology for what Dhananjay Kumar said.

*BJP: Do you remember leading MLA’s to a resort when there was a motion against your back bone V S Acharya in the assembly? Why did you show such disrespect?
KJP, BSY Supporter: Seriously, “motion against your back bone V S Acharya”?? Assuming it to be a typing error, BS Yediyurappa has never shown disrespect to VS Acharya. When VS Acharya expired, BSY paid his last tributes to VS Acharya in Udupi. Also, he spoke about how VS Acharya was with him and how his demise would affect the party and also him. So, the question of BSY disrespecting Acharya doesn’t arise. Also, it was Advani who snubbed BSY in Udupi, when both were there to pay their last tributes.

*BJP: Which court has given you a clean chit in the illegal mining case? If there is a clean chit why don’t you release it to the media?
KJP, BSY Supporter: So, firstly, is this question serious?? Which court has given BS Yediyurappa a clean chit in illegal mining case? Hon. High Court Of Karnataka, thrashed Santhosh Hegde’s Lokayukta Report on Illegal Mining where he has named BS Yediyurappa of alleged misdeeds. The Kar HC has noticed that there was no Natural Justice followed and BSY was not allowed to give his opinions. Also, its a known fact that on whose behest, Santhosh Hegde named BSY for Illegal Mining in his report. Also, it was Sadananda Gowda who transpired against BSY and gave his nod for CBI Investigation against BSY when he clearly let off SM Krishna, HD Kumaraswamy, and Dharam Singh. It was Yediyurappa who took strict action against illegal mining and he banned Iron ore export and we know who sheltered and safe guarded Reddy brothers in BJP.

*BJP: How has Renukacharya become your well wisher today? Wasn’t he the same person who led a dissidence against you twice? At that time it was the same national leaders who saved your government.
KJP, BSY Supporter: But, forgiving one for his wrong doings is always welcome. So when Renukacharya realized his mistake and he apologized, BSY was good enough to forgive him. It was not the national leaders who saved BSY’s government when Renukacharya threatened, BSY met Renukacharya’s demands and inducted him to Cabinet and it was worth it. Because, Renukacharya was an efficient Excise Minister. So one question from my side to BJP, How has ShivanaGouda Nayak, Anand Asnotikar, Nanjundaswamy become dear to BJP when they rebelled against party??

*BJP: You always say you were backstabbed by Kumaraswamy? Today you say the BJP has back stabbed you. Why are there no statements against Kumaraswamy today?
KJP, BSY Supporter: Yes BS Yediyurappa has always said that Kumaraswamy stabbed him in the back, he sticks to what he has been saying then, today and forever. BSY has never gone soft on Kumaraswamy, and will never. Its BJP which has gone soft on JDS and Kumaraswamy. Yes, BJP has backstabbed BS Yediyurappa. They asked him to quit CM post after he was named in Illegal Mining report. His name was cleared by Kar HC and no review petition was filed in SC. But, BJP leaders made sure CBI starts the investigation and targetted BSY.

*BJP: Do you remember that you wanted to quit the party and join a Congress-JD(S) coalition in the year 2005?
KJP, BSY Supporter: BSY has never said he wanted to quit BJP and join CONG-JDS coalition. It was the same media that spreads canards against you, BJP that spread these rumors against BS Yediyurappa. So, its a closed chapter.

Why Karnad hates Naipaul?? What is his problem if Naipaul gets an award?? – Prof. Dr. S. R. Leela

Prof. Dr. S. R. Leela, Hon. MLC writes abt Girish Karnad’s narrow mindedness in today’s Kannada daily Vijayawani.. I’ve translated this so that non- Kannadigas can also read.. Yesterday evening when i met her, i told her that i regularly read her columns in Vijayawani. That is when she asked me to read her writeup regarding Girish Karnad. It is as below,

Girish Karnad’s tirade and disrespect against V. S. Naipaul on being awarded Lifetime Achievement award by Landmark and Literature Alive Institutions at the recent Literature Fest, Mumbai is to be condemned.
The three important issues mentioned by Girish Karnad for his tirade are
* Naipaul has stated that it is a fact that Muslim invaders attacked, destroyed and occupied illegally. His opinions regarding Ayodhya and Babar is not right. Naipaul has been propagating that The Glorious Hindu Past of India has been destroyed.
* It is astonishing that Naipaul has never written about Indian Music in any of his books. He is not an Indian and doesn’t know much about Indianism.
* The Lit Fest organizers, who have awarded Naipaul should answer to a lot of questions.

Babar’s invasion is History now. The day his Military Commander, Mir Baaki destroyed Hindu temples in Ayodhya to build Mosques (1528), Ayodhya issue is controversial. This issue has led to Hindu Muslim standoff from the past 500 years and is still alive. The 2010 Allahabad High Court verdict tried to put an end to this issue. It also asked Archaeological Survey of India to study the background and give proofs related to this. Prof B. B. Lal had submitted to the court all documents and proofs. Dr. Jaya Menon, Prof. Ashok Datta and others have told the court that there was remains of Hindu Temple at Ayodhya.

The remains that have been found in the controversial site resemble Hindu Temple signs and not that of a mosque. This has been clearly told to the court. Girish Karnad reposes a lot of faith in historians such as Romila Thapar and Irfan Habib, who have been propagating that Babar didn’t demolish Hindu Temple at Ayodhya to build the mosque. We are no one to question it. But this Mosque lover, great Historian Karnad didn’t give any statement in the court when it was discussing Ayodhya issue. Reason? We should understand that this historian has no guts to face prosecution. If history is altered as per his whims and fancies, does it become the Truth? Who are the ones who are playing politics in the name of Ayodhya?? Who has to answer all these? I don’t know what to call those people who laugh looking at a dead housefly in someone else’s plate, though their plate carries a dead lizard. [ Libtards]

The issue that Naipaul has not written about Indian Music in any of his books is surprising, says Karnad. Does he know that his statements hasn’t surprised, but has come as a rude shock to many?

When the movement for classical tag for Kannada wad at its fore, what this Jnanapith winning, Intellectual had to say about it is still fresh in the minds of Kannadigas. ” Kannada is still alive. Why do you need Classical tag for Kannada when it’s alive. Sanskrit is dead. Let them bestow classical status on Sanskrit.” Whattay a thinking. It is still worrying a lot of people that this World Famous Intellectual doesn’t know the meaning of Classical Language Status. This Intellectual should know that what has been expressed in Sanskrit, other languages in the world haven’t. Is his Brain dead, he equates Classical status to Death. Dear Girish Karnad, your name is a Sanskrit word, and you are still Alive. You needed Sanskrit basics for your theatre playwright. ‘Hayavadana’, ‘Yayati’, ‘Agni matthu Male’ etc are all Sanskrit based. Your intellect has grown due to a Dead language.

Kannadigas had a rude shock when Karnad was award Jnanapith. They got to know the price of Jnanapith, only then. They understood that to get awards, name and fame, people can stoop to any level. Noted Kannada writer, Chandrashekar Patil reacted to this saying “. The first four Jnanapiths were achieved, the rest were taken.” [ Probably Hellas referring to U. R. Ananthmurthy].

Dear Karnad, Is Naipaul an Indian? Is it true? Are you an Indian? What Indian qualities have you retained to lecture Naipaul?? Is it right on your part to attack a Nobel Laurate when someone is bestowing him with Lifetime Achievement award? Is it right to defame him? Is this your culture? You must be still remembering what Kannadigas and Karnataka’s reaction was? What moral rights do you have, to ask for an explanation from the LitFest organizers for bestowing Naipaul with an award? Are you an Indian?? When M. F. Hussain painted Hindu Gods in a vulgar manner, not only Hindus but a lot many Muslims too opposed it. But what was your reaction then? You went on to say that these people are fundamentalists who are trying to suppress one’s Freedom of Expression. Doesn’t Naipaul have the freedom that Hussain had?? If Hinduism is shown in the dark, it is Freedom of Expression, and when someone points out the Historical truth and writes about Islam, it is questionable, right? Why these double standards???

You criticized Naipaul for visiting a political parties office. Everyone knows which political parties’ street you visit, who you work for, why you do that, what you gain from it, is a known fact. You can be “Biased”, “Partisan”, others shouldn’t!! Why?? Please answer.

When Muslims first came to India, they came to loot, to invade, to occupy Indian land. This fact has been accepted by Islamic Historians. The Loot History of Muhammad Bin Sibkuthgin has been detailed by Al- Baruni in his book Tehkeek- A- Hind. Culturally and wealth wise, ancient Indian cities like Mathura, Somnath, Ayodhya, Ujjain were rich.

Al- Baruni writes in his book: ” Mathura city was within a magnificent Stone Fort. Wherever you see, the city was filled with beautiful, huge, rich temples. The palace that was at the city centre was the most magnificent. Our Sultan was taken aback by that magnificence. He had never come across such a magnificent building, until then. The temple’s cost itself must be some 10 crore Dinars. There were numerous beautiful idols. Out of which, 5 were of pure gold. The eyes of one such idol was made of a big Padmaragamani. The cost of one such Mani itself is more than a lakh Dinars. The other idols weren’t any less. The weight of those 5 idols was itself around 98,300 Thoole( some unit of measurement). The number of silver idols were 200. For about 20 days, we looted all the temples. We demolished some temples completely. We carried 6.5 tonnes of Gold and 50,000 war prisoners from Mathura city alone!”

Al- Baruni in his book Tehkeek- A- Hind, writes about the underground loot of Ghazni’s loot as ” The region was very rich. Wherever you see, it was filled with grains, cereals, fruits, art, wealth and many more. The King’s journey was satisfying and was successful.”

America’s greatest thinker, the author of ‘ Story of Civilization’, Will Duront, said ” The Islamic Invasion of India was the Bloodiest Period.” Romila Thapar is not the only historian. Why do you people act so weird when the truth is told?? To appease whom??

PANCHAYAT RAJ “CYST”em

Before I proceed, I would like to tell you that I’m from a rural area and so I have dared to write this. 
After reading India Today’s article “Killing Fields of Bihar Villages” http://t.co/iUNmpb53, I felt I should write an article regarding the negative sides of the much hyped Panchayat Raj system. I feel the negative aspects outnumber the positives. I may be wrong, but still…
Though the system of Panchayats can be dated back to British era in India, the 73rd Amendment to the Indian constitution in 1992 made it a constitutional institution, thus the 3- Tier Panchayat Raj system was introduced. The 74th amendment introduced Urban Local Bodies and obviously, expectations were high. The 73rd Amendment contains provision for devolution of powers to the panchayats and responsibilities to the panchayats both for preparation of economic development plans and social justice, as well as for implementation in relation to 29 subjects listed in the 11th schedule of the Indian constitution.
The panchayats receive funds from3 sources,
• Local body grants, as recommended by Central Finance Commission
• Funds for implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. Ex: MGNREGA
• Funds released by the respective state governments as recommended by the State Finance Commission.
Panchayats have a reservation system enabling a certain ratio of reserved for SCs, STs and Women- which are regarded as the Weaker sections of the society. Yesteryear’s Panchayat system was only limited to solving local issues and disputes and was always headed by Powerful Men, or basically rich landlords.
Coming to the actual image of these Panchayat raj institutions, they are not living upto what was expected from them. If what it was supposed to do for India was done, our villages would have been self-sufficient, there wouldn’t have been migration to urban areas from rural areas and there would be no social problems. But what we get to see today is a totally bleak image. Villages are still the same. Water, sanitation, roads… nothing has improved much. Only the pocket size of these panchayat members has grown big.
Some of my observations regarding these panchayat institutions:
1. The system of reservation has given these institutions a major blow. Not that having all seats as General would be any different. When a seat is reserved, the usual contender of that seat goes for a candidate who acts according to his whims and fancies. In any rural setup, the labourers, usually belong to these reserved categories. In many cases, they are illiterate too. So when a seat is reserved, they are the ones who will be looked for. They are made to contest the seat. They become puppets at the hands of the rich. This can directly lead to massive misuse of funds. When so much is spent on developing our rural setup with these institutions, why are villages underdeveloped?????
2. Reservation for women in most cases, has not succeeded in empowering women but has empowered their husbands/brothers or their families. Most of the cases, they are easily manipulated and to sign bills, though works are not done.
3. There are people, politicians who have been demanding more powers to these panchayats. But from what we have seen in Bihar, I feel it is best not to give them more powers, especially financial powers. Instead of working to be an institution that can develop the village, build social ties, it has ended up in increasing enmity between people, the winners and the losers.
4. These Panchayat Raj institutions were setup in an effort to reduce the burden on state governments but what is the result?? They have ended up burdening the state governments. Many Gram Panchayats have not cleared their electricity bills, burdening the already overburdened, under loss ESCOMs (DISCOMs).
5. Political instabilities are a matter of concern. The term of a president of GP is 2.5 years and ZP is 20 months. But hardly have they got a chance to complete their term. Either they are removed by no confidence motions or under some understandings in the ruling party or the group, their term is divided so as to water down dissidence activities.
6. Most of these panchayat don’t meet regularly. Sometimes these meetings are cancelled at the last moment due to lack of quorum.
7. Gram Sabhas are not called regularly. Neither people are not taken into confidence before going ahead with any project concerning them nor are they consulted.
8. Schemes like MGNREGA have more drawbacks than advantages. In the name of employment, unnecessary infrastructure projects are taken, thus making the contractors richer. The projects are not built in a scientific manner. Thus undermining the very purpose they were built for, ends up burdening the government.
9. Also, MGNREGA has killed the backbone of Indian Economy in rural areas. There are hardly few who are interested to take up agriculture as they have seen the greener pasture on the other side of the river. There is labour shortage everywhere. There is no one to plough the fields, forcing farmers to grow for commercial crops which are an annual crop. Also, it is forcing people to migrate to cities in search of a living. Then where is Grama Swarajya that Mahatma Gandhi wished for?? After all, this scheme of rural employment has been named after him.
10. These panchayats, Gram Panchayat, Taluk Panchayats and Zilla Panchayats have become more of a Decorative institute. All the enthusiasm that is there when there are elections to these bodies evaporates once they get power.This habit is there everywhere, but is more in these institutions. There is no coordination between the three institutes of Panchayat Raj.
All these observations that I’ve made may not stand to be the same everywhere. I’ve just shared my opinions based on what I have seen and read.
I feel these Panchayat Raj institutions would be ideal if it was like this,
• Gram Panchayats and Taluk Panchayats must be abolished. A nodal officer, similar to that of a PDO ( Panchayat Development Officer) must be appointed at Hobli ( intermediate to Village and Block) level to monitor and implement the development projects and social schemes that are designed by the consortium of ZP, MLAs and MPs representing the district.
• Gram Panchayats should be replaced with Panchayat Development officers and knowledgeable locals should be given a chance to involve themselves with the PDOs by forming a Panchayat Samiti at village level to work and carry out development works. It should be an honorary service. It may seem to be practically impossible for some, but I don’t think so.
• Schemes like MGNREGA must be done away with and instead Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana must be strengthened. Similar Yojanas to strengthen rural sanitation and water supply projects must be adopted. MGNREGA just creates a VOTE BANK whereas schemes like PMGSY creates infrastructure. Fact!!!!

Note: PDO means Panchayat Development Officer and was a post created by BJP Government of Karnataka when Kum. Shobha Karandlaje was the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister. It was done with the due participation of experts from Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. PDOs are like DCs of the villages, they replaced Gram Panchayat Secretaries. The PDOs are appointed based on an exam conducted by KPSC. This set in a new trend in Karnataka. Many graduates took up this exams and are now serving in rural areas.

Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Bypoll- Why BJP lost?? My analysis

Introduction: Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency
Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency came into existence in the year 2009, when the country elected its 15th Lok Sabha. Previously, this constituency was Udupi LS Constituency comprising 6 assembly constituencies of Udupi district and 2 of neighbouring Dakshin Kannada district and Chikmagalur LS Constituency comprised of 6 assembly constituencies of Chikmagalur district and one each from Udupi and Dakshin Kannada districts. Notable feature is that the districts of Dakshin Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and Udupi are traditional strongholds of the SAFFRON Brigade. In the year Udupi and Chikkamagaluru Parliamentary Constituencies ceased to exist due to delimitation and were merged to form the new Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency which elected Shri Sadananda Gowda as its First MP, who himself was not from this Constituency but from neighbouring Dakshin Kannada district
Features of Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency:
Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency is a blend of the coastal, Malnad and arid regions of the south western Karnataka. The constituency runs for about 110 kms from east to west. The constituency has 8 assembly constituencies falling under it, namely Chikmagalur, Tarikere, Mudigere and Shringeri of Chikmagalur District and Udupi, Karkala, Kaup and Kundapur of Udupi District.
The Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency population consists of Lingayats, Vokkaligas, Billavas, and Bunts, Brahmins, SC-STs and Muslims, Christians and a sizeable population of Marwari’s in Chikmagalur town. The major agriculture produce is Coffee, Arecanut, Rice, Rubber in Chikmagalur Division and Rubber, Rice, Fisheries in Udupi district and there are no major industrial set ups in both the divisions. Naxal menace is a major problem in both the divisions.
Also, Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency is dotted with many Hindu shrines such as Shringeri Sharada Temple, Horanadu Annaporneshwari Temple, Tarikere Amritheshwara Temple in Chikmagalur division and Udupi Shri Krishna Temple, Kollur Mookambika Temple etc. Also the Ayodhya of the South, Dattapeetha is in this Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency.
2008 Assembly Elections
When the state went to polls in the year 2008 under newly delimited constituencies, it won 7 out of 8 constituencies. The major surprises of this election was BJP’s Shri Sunil Kumar (2012 Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Bypoll BJP Candidate) losing Karkala to Congress and BJP winning Tarikere, a traditional Congress pocket borough.
2009 Cooperative Societies Elections:
In the elections held to Cooperative Societies, BJP won a simple madority in Chikmagalur District Central Cooperative Bank, which was previously with JDS. 2012 Udupi Chikmagalur LS Bypoll JDS Candidate was the then president of this CDCC Bank. Udupi comes under The South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank, where BJP performed well but, rumours are that BJP had an understanding with Congress, according to which BJP shall rule Dakshin Kannada Cooperative Milk Producer’s Union( DKMUL) and Confress shall rule The SDCC Bank. Chikmagalur comes under The Hassan District Cooperative Milk Producer’s Union( HAMUL) and BJP performed well in Chikmagalur division but JDS had an upper hand in Hassan division and Shri H.D. Revanna is its Chairman.
2010 Gram Panchayat Elections
When the 5000+ Gram Panchayats went to polls in the year 2010, BJP’s performance was not upto the mark in Chikmagalur district but was satisfactory. In Udupi district, it was above satisfactory.
2011 Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat Elections
In January 2011, 30 ZPs and 176 TPs went to polls and in BJP snatched both Chikmagalur and Udupi ZPs from Congress and won in a majority of TPs, including Karkala TP, where its candidate had lost in 2008 assembly elections.
2009 General Elections
During the 2009 General elections, D.V. Sadananda Gowda of the BJP was pitted against Shri Jayprakash Hegde of Congress and Sadananda Gowda won with a margin of over 27000 votes despite, 7 out of 8 MLAs were from BJP. The low margin was because of Zero representation of Chikmagalur district in the State Cabinet and also many other reasons.
I’ve mentioned about all these elections just to indicate how strong the BJP became after 2008 Assembly elections. Now I shall explain the most likely reasons for BJP’s debacle in 18th March Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Bypoll which was necessitated due to the resignation of Shri Sadananda Gowda who went on to become the 26th Chief Minister of Karnataka succeeding Shri B.S. Yediyurappa who had to resign due to baseless, false allegations made by Santhosh Hegde, the then Lokayukta of Karnataka in his Illegal Mining report.
March 2012 Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Bypoll: Reason’s for BJP’s defeat
In the recently concluded Bypoll, whose results were announced on 21st March, BJP candidate Shri Sunil Kumar lost to Congress’s Jayprakash Hegde by a margin of 45,724 votes, despite of Udupi and Chikmagalur districts being BJP’s stronghold.
*General Reasons:
These ‘Reasons’ are according to what outsiders of this constituency think to be, and also these factors have played a role in BJP’s defeat. Top 10 reasons are
1. Slew of corruption cases that rocked the BJP Govt. of Karnataka
2. Porngate
3. Minister accused of rape
4. Illegal Mining Report
5. Infighting among top BJP leaders
6. Yediyurappa’s absence from the Campaign team of BJP,
7. Weak Leadership of D.V. Sadananda Gowda and K.S. Eshwarappa, Ananth Kumar.
8. Biased Media
9. Negative campaigning by opposition parties
10. Polarization of Minority votes towards Congress

• Ground Reality:
These are the factors that played a major role in BJP’s defeat in Udupi Chikmagalur LS Bypoll
1. Core BJP supporters who would never vote for any other party than BJP wanted to teach their leaders a lesson, as they were fed up with the burgeoning infighting and leadership crisis, so they abstained from voting.
2. Porngate, Corruption cases were such an embarrassment to the party workers which made them to backtrack from seeking votes for BJP and through which they wanted to send a clear message to their leaders.
3. Though the two districts of Chikmagalur and Udupi are BJP strongholds, which made the BJP to take the voters lightly, the people wanted to remind BJP leaders that their support cannot be taken for granted and they can go to the extent of voting for a candidate who doesn’t fit in their ideological inclinement.
4. It was widely rumoured in Chikmagalur district that DVS gave JDS Rs.20 crores to field their candidate so as to split minority votes and ensure an easy victory. This can’t be ruled out given the proximity that DVS enjoys with Devegowda & co.
5. It was also rumoured that Congress has given JDS Rs. 50 crores to field S.L. Bojegowda as their candidate, so that he can pocket all the Vokkaliga votes and Lingayat votes by making JDS’s Lingayat face Basavaraj Horatti and Basavaraj Patil Yatnal campaign effectively. Even this can’t be ruled out given the polling percentage and the margin by which the Congress candidate won.
6. Point no. 4, that is DVS-JDS bhai bhai backfired, as a result of which Vokkaliga votes concentrated towards JDS candidate, which were otherwise inclined towards BJP. Note that BJP MLAs of Shringeri and Chikmagalur, Vokkaliga strongholds, D.N. Jeevraj and C.T. Ravi are Vokkaligas/Gowdas. So Vokkaligas who usually vote for Jeevraj and Ravi would have voted for a Vokkaliga candidate S.L. Bojegowda.
7. Point no. 5, Congress-JDS bhai bhai worked as Congress wanted. Division of Vokkaliga votes and JDS not concentrating on minority votes that much so that Congress can pocket them. In this political game, BJP was the real loser. Thanks to DVS-KSE-AK’s idea. The rumours that I’ve mentioned in points 4 and 5 were told to me by people who wpould go for campaigning. So, I can’t just leave those rumours as false. Anything can happen in politics, you never know.
8. Tarikere and Chikmagalur constituencies have a sizeable population of Lingayats. And B.S. Yediyurappa being continuously humiliated, the community was anguished. So they might have either voted for Congress/JDS or stayed back at home. Note that Congress’s Allam Veereabhadrappa, a LIngayat campaigned for his party and also told that Congrss would welcome B.S. Yediyurappa to Congress, thus creating confusion in the voter’s mind. The main reason BJP made Yediyurappa resign was to confront with Congress efeectively, but the same Congress is ready to welcome Yediyurappa, which might have made Lingayats vote in favour of Congress. JDS had Basavaraj horatti ang Basavaraj Patil Yatnal campaign for them. Though Shettar and Somanna of BJP, both Lingayats campaigned for BJP, Lingayat voters were not satisfied with this. They wanted their foremost leader Yediyurappa not to be humiliated. So they did all this to send a clear message to BJP leadership, not to take them for granted.
9. People who never come out to vote, probably voted this time and obviously woluld have voted in favour of Congress, given the sympathy factor that Congress candidate had lost 3 times and Let us give him a chance attitude. I can justify this because Voting percentage of 2009 General election and this Bypoll were almost the same, 0.5 % difference, despite many abstaining as I’ve mentioned above.
10. Also, discrepancies in the voter’s list. Many new voters did not find their votes. Usually youths are inclined towards BJP and also BJP candidate was a youth and BJP Yuva Morcha Karnataka Head. I am also a victim of this, along with my sister. I could not find our names in the voter’s list, despite of filing an application for the same.

These are the factors I feel which worked against BJP in both Udupi and Chikmagalur divisions of Udupi- Chikmagalur LS Constituency.

*Chikkamagaluru Centric Factors:
Now I would like to be more specific, that is I would list why Chikmagalur district would have not favoured BJP this time and why they wanted to teach BJP a lesson, despite they being ideologically attached with the BJP.
1. First and foremost. No representation for Chikmagalur District in the state cabinet, despite of all 5 MLAs of the district being BJP MLAs. The BJP leadership has been assuring the people of Chikmagalur that the district will be given representation in the next cabinet expansion for sure, but it never happened during BSY regime. When Sadananda Gowda took over, expectations were even more higher but nothing happened. And the justification they gave later was even more worse, the CM himself is from the district. The people here aren’t fools to buy their justification. The CM belongs to Dakshin Kannada district and while contesting 2009 LS elections, he chose Udupi over Chikmagalur for his residence. He opened his MP office in Udupi, sidelining Chikmagalur district. He chose to attend Independence Day and Republic Day functions at Udupi, sidelining Chikmagalur district. People who were quite all these days erupted this elections and chose Congress over BJP. Note that, Congress had three Cabinet Ministers from Chikmagalur.
2. Sadananda Gowda during his election rallies in Chikmagalur, said that due to his efforts, Union Govt. released a package of Rs.350 crores for Coffee growers, which even Congress claimed that it was due to their efforts. But the fact is this package helped only small growers with 5 acres of coffee estate, thus leaving Medium and Large Coffee growers unattended. Problems faced by Coffee planters, big or small were the same, and he dint even bother to address their problems. So they revolted against BJP, who otherwise prefer BJP over Congress.
3. The labour class, which is a major votebank, are communist inclined. Since communists were backing, they preferred Congress over BJP, as they are less aware of JDS. BJP has never made an attempt to cosy upto thes labour class of Coffee estates.
4. Also, sanctioning of development projects and other infrastructure works for Chikmagalur district are less compared to Udupi and other districts. But BJP has made an attempt in this regard, but not satisfying.
5. Problems of Arecanut growers were never addressed, despite several appeals. The CM’s promise remained only on newspapers and never materialised. This made Arecanut growers to look at Congress.
6. The confusion regarding implementation of Project Tiger in Bhadra Wildlife and Kudremukh National Park ranges of Chikmagalur worked against BJP, even in Udupi’s Karkala I suppose. The CM’s statements were itself confusing. When in Bengaluru, he wopuld say, the proposal is dropped. In Chikmagalur he would say, the State Govt. has requested Centre to drop Chikmagalur district from the proposal and while addressing election rallies, he would say the Govt. would look into the proposal and see if it can be dropped when this issue was brought to his notice. This worked against BJP’s favour.

These are the factors I feel which worked against BJP’s favour.

*Udupi Centric Factors:
I am not sur of Udupi factors but will make an attempt.
1. Permitting a Tourism related program in Udupi’s St. Mary’s Island, which turned out to be a Rave Party worked against BJP.
2. The CM DVS, while inaugurating BJP’s Election Office in Udupi said that Acharya’s clean image would swing in BJP’s favour, which was an utter irresponsible statement I feel. It was equal to saying. His death will help BJP’s prospects.

Happy Birthday Yediyurappaji..

Yeddyurappa was born on 27 February 1943 in the village of Bookanakere in Mandya district in the state of Karnataka; at that time, his name was spelled “Yeddiyurappa”. His father Siddalingappa and mother Puttathayamma belonged to the Lingayat community. He was named after the presiding deity of a Shaivite temple built by Siddalingeshwara at Yediyur in Tumkur district of Karnataka. His mother died when he was four. He completed his education with a degree in Bachelor of Arts.
In 1965, he was appointed first-division clerk in the social welfare department but instead shifted to Shikaripur where he joined as a clerk at Veerabhadra Shastri’s Shankar rice mill. In 1967, Yeddyurappa married Mythradevi, the daughter of the rice mill owner. He later set up a hardware shop in Shimoga. Yeddyurappa has two sons, Raghavendra and Vijayendra and three daughters, Arunadevi, Padmavati and Umadevi. In 2004, his wife died after falling into and drowning in a nearby well.

Yeddyurappa’s stint in public life began when he was appointed secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Shikaripur unit in 1970. In 1972, he was elected President of the Taluk unit of the Jan Sangh. In 1975, he was elected President of the Town Municipality of Shikaripur. He was imprisoned during the Emergency in India between 1975 and 1977 and lodged in the Bellary and Shimoga jails. In 1980, he was appointed President of the Shikaripur taluk unit of the BJP and he later went on to become the president of BJP’s Shimoga district unit in 1985. In 1988, he became the President of the BJP unit of the state of Karnataka. He was first elected to the lower house of Karnataka Legislature in 1983 and has since represented the Shikaripur constituency six times. He has been a member of the Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Twelfth and Thirteenth Legislative Assemblies (lower house) of Karnataka. In the Tenth Assembly, he was chosen Leader of Opposition. In 1999, he lost the elections but was nominated by the BJP to become a member of the legislative council (upper house) of Karnataka.
He rose to prominence when he helped Janata Dal (Secular) party’s H. D. Kumaraswamy to bring down the coalition government of Dharam Singh. Kumaraswamy formed the government with the help of the BJP in Karnataka headed by Yeddyurappa. A deal was struck between the JD(S) and BJP, which specified that H. D. Kumaraswamy would be the Chief Minister for the first 20 months, after which Yeddyurappa would become the Chief Minister for the remaining 20 months of the current tenure of the Legislature. Yeddyurappa was nominated as the Deputy Chief Minister as well as the finance minister in Kumaraswamy’s Government.
However in October 2007, when Yeddyurappa’s turn of becoming the Chief Minister was supposed to start, Kumaraswamy refused to resign from the post of the Chief Minister. This forced Yeddyurappa and all of the ministers from his party to resign and on 5 October, he met the governor and formally withdrew the BJP’s support from the government. Karnataka was put under President’s rule which was revoked on 7 November. During the period of the President’s rule, the JD(S) and the BJP decided to bury their differences and this paved the way for Yeddyurappa to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Yeddyurappa was sworn in as the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka on 12 November 2007. However, JD(S) refused to support his government over disagreement on sharing of ministries which made him resign from his post on 19 November 2007.
In Karnataka’s 2008 Assembly elections, Yeddyurappa contested from Shikaripura against the Samajwadi Party’s S. Bangarappa, another ex-Chief Minister. The Indian National Congress and JD(S) did not field a candidate in the constituency and backed Bangarappa, but despite this, Yeddyurappa won the seat by a margin over 45,000 votes. He took the oath of office as Chief Minister on 30 May 2008.
In December 2008, Yeddyurappa was conferred an Honorary Doctorate by Saginaw Valley State University, USA

He had to resign on July 31st due to allegations on him by Congress stooge, the then Lokayukta Santhosh Hegde.

Regional Parties and their clout on National Political Scene. How to tackle them??

After the fall of PV Narasimha Rao Govt. at the centre, the era of coalition Govts started. Thus marking the beginning of political instability at the centre. After 1996 General Elections, Atal Bihari Vajpayee headed a coalition Govt. which lasted for a mere 13 days as he failed to garner the required numbers to reach majority. Between 1996 and 1998 two coalition Govts of the Third Front didn’t last long. After which, the Lok Sabha was dissolved and fresh elections were called in 1998, which again put BJP in the lead. BJP stitched an alliance with regional parties under the banner NDA. But AIADMK, a regional outfit from Tamil Nadu withdrew support to the 13 month old NDA Govt. and the Govt. could not gather majority and Lok Sabha was dissolved. And Vajpayee continued as PM, but a care taker PM. In the General elections of 1999, NDA headed by BJP won a whopping 303 seats out of 543 seats and ruled for full term. BJP managed to control its allies. After the 2004 General Elections, Congress being the single largest party formed the Govt. under the banner UPA. Many regional parties such as DMK, NCP, PDP were part of it. Regional parties continue to influence the policy making of the Government and also give a sense of political instability.

How to overcome this??

The Election Commission of India should formulate strict rules and regulations as to give any political party a National Party status. The party should have a broader national agenda. Parties like BSP, NCP, SP, JDU though don’t have any regional agenda as such, they don’t have a pan-India presence. They are confined to only few pockets which is enough for not accepting them as National Parties. And parties like DMK-AIADMK of Tamil Nadu, TDP of Andhra Pradesh, TMC of West Bengal, INLD of Haryana, JDS of Karnataka-Kerala, JKNC and PDP of Jammu and Kashmir and so on are confined to only those states. Also, these Regional Parties should not be given important portfolios and also should not be given Cabinet Ministerial berths as they can’t think on a broader national consensus. Best example is Mamata Banerjee’s tenure as Union Railway Minister. She acted as if she was the Railway Minister for Poschim Banga (West Bengal) and MoS Railways for Congress-UPA states, thus leaving Opposition ruled states orphaned. And, DMK heading Telecom Ministry took the Telecom sector to ransom. The ever growing clout of these regional parties is a threat to pan India growth. Also regional parties tend to influence policy making to suit their regional agenda. This trend has to go or else India will be pushed to a Third World Country status.
The Constitution should be amended for making it compulsory for anyone willing to be a Union Cabinet minister to be elected on a National party’s ticket and also regional parties should be given only Minister Of State(MoS) posts or may be no posts. Also they should be given MoS only if they account to 50% of the total LS seats in their respective states. Also the Number of MoSs to be given should be not more than 15% of their total strength in Lok Sabha.
This could lead to political stability.

HD Kumaraswamy holds a press conference to tell that his family is not guilty of Irregularities in UKP.

Former chief minister of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy yesterday held a press conference in Bengaluru regarding the FIR filed in Vidhan Soudha Police Station regarding irregularities in the Upper Krishna Project that was executed during his father, former PM HD Devegowda’s tenure as CM. But the fact was the FIR filed by Dy SP of the CID wing of Karnataka police doesn’t name anyone. But Shri Shri KumaraSwamy was very quick to explain that his father did no wrong. What does this indicate?? Is he and his father guilty of what they did 14 years back??  They are being haunted by the Upper Krishna Project. Devegowda instead of inviting tenders for the project, gave piece works to different companies. Also, Kumaraswamy dared the CID Police officials not to interfere in Devegowda’s family’s works. He publicly threatened CID police chief thet he would not be spared. He was indirectly hinting at Shankar Bidri, CID Police Chief. Shouldn’t Kumaraswamy be arrested for publicly threatening a person, that too a senior IPS officer??

ನೆರೆ ಕೆರೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲ ಕೆರೆ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಸೇರ್ಯಾರೆ
ಊರು ಬೀದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂತಕದ ವಾತವರಣ
ಕೆರೆ ಏರಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಗಿದೆ ಮೂವರ ಮರಣ.

ಒಕ್ಕಣನ ಮಗಳು ಸಾಕವ್ವ ಕೆರೆಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಸತ್ತಾಳೆ
ತನ್ನ ಒಡವೆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಹೆಣ್ಗೂಸನ್ನು ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ್ಯಾಳೆ
ಇರೊ ಒಬ್ಬ ಗಂಡು ಮಗೂನ ಗಂಡನ್ನ ಅನಾಥ ಮಾಡ್ಯಾಳೆ
ತವರಿನವರ ವೆದನೆಯನ್ನು ಇಮ್ಮಡಿ ಮಡ್ಯಾಳೆ

ಮದುವೆಯಾಗಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ವರುಷ ಆದರು ಗಂಡನ
ಮನೆಯವರ ಕಾಟ ತಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಅತ್ತೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯಾಕೆಯಾದರೇನು
ಮಾವನ ಗಂಡಾಸೆ ಕೊಂದಿತು ಸಾಕವ್ವಳ ಮನಸ್ಸನ್ನ
ಕೊನೆಗೆ ದಾರಿ ತೊರದೆ ಹಿಡಿದಳು ಕೆರೆಯ ದಾರೀನ.

ಒಂದೆ ಗಂಡು ಹೆತ್ತಲ್ಲೆ? ಎರಡು ಹೆಣ್ಣ ಸಾಕುವರ್‍ಯಾರು
ದುಡ್ಡು, ಧವಸ ಧಾನ್ಯ ಏನು ನಿನ್ನ ತವರಿನವರು ಕೊಟ್ಟಾರು
ಎಂದೆಲ್ಲ ಆಕೆಯ ಮಾವ ನಿಂದಿಸಿದ. ತನ್ನ ಹೆಣ್ಗೂಸಗಳಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನರು
ಗತಿ ಎಂದೆನುತ, ತನ್ಮಕ್ಕಳೊಡನೆ  ಕೆರೆಗೆ ಹಾರಿದಳು.

ನಮ್ಮ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಇನ್ಯಾರು ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಹೆಳ್ಯಾರು
ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಕೂಸು ಗಂಡು ಇಲ್ಲ ಹೆಣ್ಣೆಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸುವವರು
ಗಂಡೆ ವಿನ ಹೆಣ್ಣಲ್ಲವೆಂದು. ಅಂಥು ಕೊಂದರು 
ಮೂವರು ಮುಗ್ಧ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನ ಸಕ್ಕವ್ವನ ಮಾವನವರು. 

ಸಾಕವ್ವನ ತಿಥಿಗು ಮುನ್ನವೆ ಆಕೆಯ ಗಂಡನಿಗೆ 
ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಹೆಣ್ಣನು ಕಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಹೆಣ್ಣಿಗೆ 
ಏನು ಬರವೆ? ಆದರೆ ಮದುವೆಗೆ ಬೆಕ್ಕದ ಹೆಣ್ಣು
ಮದುವೆಯ ನಂತರ ಹುಟ್ಟುವ ಮಗು ಆಗಬಾರದ್ಯಾಕೆ ಹೆಣ್ಣು??
